Wyncomm, a brand endorsed by Saif Ali Khan and Bipasha Basu, has tied up with 160by2.com to provide Wyncomm mobile users free SMS service to any mobile not only to India, but to other countries like UAE, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines. These services might further be extended to other countries like Bahrain, Yemen, Qatar, and Oman.
According to Mr. Vivek Sachdev, General Manager Product Manager, Wyncomm Telecom Ltd. , messaging is the most widely used VAS service in India. The other countries targeted through this tie-up is based on the high Indian population in these countries. Wyncomm mobiles will come with a mobile application developed by 160by2.com, pre-installed. This application will allow users to access their phones book through the application itself. A good feature of the application is that it allows the user to save his phonebook on 160by2.com as a backup.
Benefits to both companies?
For Wyncomm, it is about cashing in on the messaging craze in the country. The mobile company does not have much of the market share when it comes to the Mobile Handset Market in India. According to a recent survey, Wyncomm comes under a group of brands clubbed together, which has 1.7% market share in all of India.
For 160by2.com, it is a matter of greater exposure. The website is widely used by youngsters in India. On a personal note, I can vouch for this as most of my friends use the website to make plans for football or for a night out. With this tie-up, 160by2.com are looking at a more global market.
