The story of the film revolves around an impoverished farmer who decides to commit suicide to enable his family to benefit from a government grant. It is a satire on farmers’ suicide, a dark subject matter portrayed in a light humorous manner.

This concept is something rare to be depicted on Indian screen. “Peepli Live” marks a scathing attack on the role of media in India who lean forward to the lowest level to raise their television channel ratings. COO, Fun Cinemas, Fun Cinemas stated “Though “Peepli Live” doesn’t have a known star cast; there is a lot of excitement among movie goers based on the movie’s promos.”

After making Khandala famous with “aati kya khandala”, Aamir Khan is now doing the same with Peepli in his upcoming flick “Peepli Live”. Villagers from 500 different Peeplis have sent letters to Aamir Khan as a token of appreciation for making their village famous.

Aamir Khan’s most awaited film “Peepli Live” has won the heart of millions. Prior to its release it already carved a name for itself in the international film festivals. It has already bagged the award of Best First Feature Film award at the 31st Durban International Film Festival in South Africa.

This is Aamir Khan’s fourth home production after “Lagaan”, “Once Upon a Time In India”, “Taare Zameen Par” and “Jaane Tu….Ya Jaane Na”. Rizvi added “It is a film on rural and urban divide. People like us who live in cities like Mumbai and Delhi should get to know a little about the realities of India. The film is based on that.”
