Tata’s Bombay House building Fire Blast : 3 killed


According to chief fire officer UK Tatkare, the fire broke out in the basement of the headquarters of the Tata Group in south Mumbai around 9.30 am today on Wednesday.
“The three people were trapped in the basement and succumbed while a fourth person was brought out in a serious condition, which has been moved to Sir JJ Hospital for treatment and two more people were rescued from the terrace of the building by fire officials as ten fire engines and four tankers have been rushed to the spot” Tatkare said.

Bombay House has been the Tata Group’s headquarters ever since. The building is a four-story colonial structure built with Malad stone, and was designed by architect George Wittet, who later became the head of Tata Engineering Company Limited.
