Hitachi Limited Gets 10 Year Contract From

Hitachi Limited, America announced that its subsidiary Hitachi Power Systems America (HPSA) has gained a 10 year long contract for the New York Power Authority (NYPA). The contract is for bringing some modifications and replacing the bigger components of the pump- turbine units of Lewiston Pump Generating Plant.
Hitachi Limited will replace certain parts of 12 pump- turbine units and other equipments. This is aimed at enhancing the performance of the machines as well as for extending the life of the hydroelectricity facility. To be specific Hitachi would be into replacing the turbine runners and also designing and testing of pump turbine model runner.

Hitachi Limited had previously handled the project of NYPA’s Blenheim-Gilboa very successfully. The project had initiated in the year 2004 and got completed in 2010. It was for the upgrading and rehabilitation of thr pump-turbine units.

Hitachi’s new project is scheduled to start from 2012.
